Back in 2010 Slash was getting set to release his self titled solo debut. Since Slash has a lot of friends in the music world, he enlisted a bunch of people to sing on various songs, including Ozzy, Lemmy, Chris Cornell, Fergie, and Chester Bennington.
Bennington was originally going to be used on a song called “Crazy” but with Linkin Park getting set to release their 2010 album “A Thousand Suns,” their people didn’t think it was a good idea to have competing tracks from front man out at the same time. So Slash reworked the song and had Lemmy sing it and renamed it “Doctor Alibi.”
The first mention of the collaboration came in 2018 when Slash was doing an interview with Variety
“When I was doing my first solo record, I worked with a lot of different people, some of whom, for whatever reason, didn’t end up on the record. One was with Chester. We did a song and Linkin Park at the time didn’t allow it to happen, so I did it with Lemmy. The guy who engineered my demos sent it to me and I sent it to Chester’s family. But it was a trip cause the song really speaks to his state of mind.”
When asked if the song would ever see the light of day, Slash told Variety that Chester’s family had it and it would be up to them.
Well, a one minute clip of the song was leaked by bassist and producer Big Chris Flores. Flores says that the track will be released at some point to benefit 320 Changes Direction, the mental health awareness organization launched by Bennington’s widow Talinda.
