Back at it with another pick for Wednesday Wax. This week we’re diving into a classic by not only a Canadian, but a very underrated group, The Jeff Healey Band.
This group never got the true recognition they deserved. The real ones know that Jeff Healey and his guitar skills stand up to anyone in the biz and it’s a shame he’s never mentioned among the guitar greats. That’s a discussion for another day though, let’s dive into the album we’re featuring here, ‘See The Light’.
Released in 1988, it’s the group’s debut album and what a way to make an impression. It was No. 50 on the top 100 albums in Canada in 1989 and in 1990 was nominated for Album of the Year at the Juno Awards.
From top to bottom, Healey’s skills are on full display starting with ‘Confidence Man’ which was featured when The Jeff Healey band starred as the house band in the Patrick Swayze film Road House. If you want to throw on an album that’s real blues and rock centered, this is a must.
