Australia is famous for beaches, sunshine and that everything on the continent can kill you. Snakes, spiders, sharks, jellyfish, crocodiles… all deadly and to the Aussies, it’s completely normal. Even the octopus is venomous, just to keep things interesting.
The sun will burn you in minutes, the heat is brutal, and the plants are sharp, toxic, or both. If the animals don’t get you first something else will. Recently Australia has dealt with 4 shark attacks in 48 hours. They have pools there correct? If I visited the Land Down Under and the option to swim in a pool is there, I’m taking it without question. Can’t blame the sharks though, we enter their territory and they’re just doing what they’ve done for millions and millions of years.
The reason the sharks attacked though, isn’t because they mistook the surfers for a seal, its possibly because of another reason and we learned this in the 2004 film 50 First Dates. “Sharks, they only bite when you touch their private parts.”
